Cor-Tuf Ultra-High Performance Concrete (UHPC) is a class of concrete that is exceptionally strong and durable. Originally developed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, it combines form and function with strength and resiliency.
Cor-Tuf UHPC has 10 times the compressive strength of traditional concrete and an estimated longevity of more than 75 years, versus 15-25 years for traditional concrete. It has been shown to withstand more than 1,000 freeze/thaw cycles with no damage whatsoever, while traditional concrete starts to deteriorate after only 28 cycles.
Cor-Tuf UHPC is also impervious to water and resistant to other harsh environmental conditions. These qualities make Cor-Tuf ideal for traditional uses of concrete such as bridge construction and repair, as well as new applications of concrete, such as contemporary designs that require thinner components or complex shapes. The exceptional durability of Cor-Tuf UHPC delivers a total lifecycle cost that is lower than traditional concrete, while delivering added benefits of safety, resiliency, and energy efficiency.
The U.S. Federal Government and many state governments are strongly recommending that UHPC be used in a variety of highway infrastructure projects, ranging from accelerated bridge construction, bridge repair and maintenance, precast concrete deck panels, and field-cast connections between prefabricated bridge components.
The U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) also advocates the use of UHPC through its Every Day Counts (EDC) program which identifies innovative technologies to reduce project timelines, increase safety, reduce traffic delays, and lessen the environmental impact of construction at the state and local levels,
We operate as a Ultra High Performance Concrete- Sales, Distribution, and Quality Control Company. We use specially designed onsite mixers and have train certified subcontractors that deliver and mix our product onsite to assure quality control. Our worldwide sales agents and subcontractors advise companies, contractors, and municipalities of the benefits of our product and encourage them to spec projects using Cor-Tuf UHPC.
The ingredients used to manufacture Cor-Tuf UHPC are approximately 80% the same as traditional concrete. It is what goes into the remaining 20% that makes Cor-Tuf unique and innovative. Using prestressed solutions, integrated fibers are added to the concrete mix. The fibers vary from polyester to fiberglass bars, basalt, steel, and stainless steel. Each of these integrated fibers create a progressively stronger end product, with steel and stainless steel delivering the greatest gains in strength. Cor-Tuf UHPC has 10 times the compressive strength of traditional concrete. Additional mix techniques can be applied to achieve 50,000 psi or higher.
Our team of experts arrive on-site and supervises the mixing of Cor-Tuf UHPC in real-time to ensure clients get the highest quality of this new concrete technology. Strict quality control measures are followed to ensure the excellence of the final product. Cor-Tuf UHPC initially hardens in two to three hours and can be handled in about eight hours following a pour. The cure time varies with temperature and humidity but generally produces half-strength in five to seven days. Full curing is obtained in 28 days. Additional strength can be achieved with the use of supplemental techniques such as the use of increased temperature, steam, or both during curing.
